The people of Fremont County, and to a lesser degree, all of Colorado and the U.S. population in general, refuse to see the abuse that is happening right infract of them. How many of the world's great human rights abuses have happened right under the noses of an ''unsuspecting'' compliant majority? It is a slippery incremental slope of economic opportunism, seeing others as less than equal, and cold justification. But, no matter how uncomfortable to admit, the corruption in Canon City is real, endemic, and insidious. As the medical personnel say to new inmates at the Denver Reception and Detention Center, “Welcome to the factory, Colorado's number one cash crop.”
It is only fitting a film company from France, the country that helped forge American freedom so long ago, should be the ones to expose American tyranny today. Unfortunately, the film crew was only able to catch half of the abuse when they told the story of Prison Valley. The other half of the dirty little story of Canon City is a corrupt police department and court system that manufactures fictitious crimes, manipulates the courts, and hands out LIFE sentences like candy to first-time offenders accused of victimless crimes - all to keep their many prisons filled, and their mostly uneducated white citizens employed with high paying state jobs.
Thank you David for helping to expose a nationwide epidemic that has led to the United States having almost 25 percent of the worldly prison population, a nation that has put one out of every 100 of its adult citizens behind bars - the land of the free has become the home of the incarcerated, and Prison Valley is only the beginning of a much darker story.

Again, thank you to David and everyone who made Prison Valley possible, you risked more than you know coming to Colorado and Canon City to uncover this story. Keep up the brave work.
Peace and love, A.D. Rudder - A journalist serving life for reporting the truth in Prison Valley
